Time to wrap it up already!

So, three weeks later, I'm ready to finish my post on Mexico. Working in retail in December doesn't give me a lot of free time, unless it is snowing in Seattle and they close the mall early!! So currently, I am NOT working, and I'm snuggled up in my favorite big chair, watching movies and blogging.  WAY more fun that dealing with Christmas shoppers.

On the night of my birthday, after more basking in the sun during the day, we got all fancied up and headed out for a nice dinner. He we are stopping for a photo-op in the lobby of our hotel :)

We made a pit stop to see the amazing cliff divers - an event that had been recommended to us by so many people throughout the week.  Seriously - who just decided one day to climb this insane rock wall and plummet into the ocean for sport?  And at night none the less?  Plus these boys look like they are all of 14. School by day, diver by night - totally impressive!

Here they go climbing up....

All positioned and ready to go...

Look close and you can see him spinning...

Then open wide for a smooth landing!

Phew!  After watching the impressive boys, it was onto dinner.  We found a charming local open-air restaurant called "Linda Vista."  We got an awesome table, and were able to enjoy our dinner over-looking the amazing coast line at night.  I think the most awkward moment I had was when the waiters brought me a yummy dessert, made me wear a sombrero, sang to me, and all lined up to give me Birthday hugs.  Now, those who know me know I do not love hugs, and let's review that even though it was nighttime, it was still about 95 degrees.  Ummm yeah - hugs.  Sweaty waiter hugs.  One after another.  Yuck.

Check out how they spelled my name - too cute!

Uncomfortable, party of one.  Look at my face.

On a more enjoyable note, about halfway through our dinner, someone started shooting off fireworks on the beach below us - they must have known it was my Birthday!

Our beautiful view...

Happy Birthday to me!

Overall the trip was fantastic.  Thank you Sarah for the invitation, and thanks Christy and Medley for making the week of my 27th Birthday very memorable.  You guys are the best :)  I want to go back right now - it is officially 25 degrees and snowing! These pictures are much more appealing than the one out my window....

Lazy Bum, Lay in Sun, Night of Fun....Repeat:)

After our trip to Walmart Monday, we pretty much kicked it in the sun for the rest of the day, followed by a yummy home-made dinner and TV watching from the enormous king sized bed.   All we could find on TV in English were episodes of Friend's and Grey's Anatomy - perfect!  Could this vacation BE any better?

Can I just say I love sleeping in on vacation.  It was awesome to get up around 10 everyday and make our way down to the pool for more relaxation :) Tuesday night, after 8 more hours in the sun (I'm beginning to sense a pattern here) we headed to Senor Frogs for dinner.  We had 2 really fun waiters, Giovanni and Hector.  Since it was a Tuesday night and the restaurant was dead, I think they were pretty excited to have 3 American girls to chat with. I use the term "waiters" loosely, because we pretty much had dinner for 5, and discussed everything from soccer, to napkin folding tricks, to the Mexican version of Red Bull, and what our opinions were on the newly elected president.  Yes, I watched Obama win over enchiladas and strawberry margaritas at Senor Frogs.  At least I can say it was memorable :) Towards the end of our night, Giovanni and Hector brought a birthday cake to the table for me and Sarah.  Look closely....it was an upside down Ding Dong, with a straw shoved in it, and a folded up paper towel on top that they lit on fire - I think that's the coolest Birthday cake I've ever had!

Here is a random close-up just to show you all that after 2 days in the sun, I wasn't the one that was fried!  I think I'm officially a grown-up.  Although I wanted a really good tan, I didn't want it to cost me a really bad burn.  Go SPF 45!  Oh, and a few more Sunset pictures for good measure...

Wednesday morning our 4th companion Kristin arrived.  She had a little less time off work than the rest of us, but it was great to have her come down for a portion of the trip.  While waiting for her taxi to arrive, we got a little snap happy, and got some great shots of our resort lobby.  Isn't it pretty?

8 more hours in the sun, and we were off to the Hard Rock Cafe.  Pay no attention to my legs in the first shot...don't I look a little more bronze in the second shot? Maybe its the dim lighting, but I don't care:)

Side note...we were walking around downtown after eating and I found a Kinder Egg! Kinder is a brand of chocolate that we ate in Germany when I was little - and I had such a moment of nostalgia! These little eggs are milk chocolate on the outside, white chocolate inside, and there is a little toy in the center that you have to assemble when you're done. And I mean little. Mine ended up being a mini statue of Aurora from "Sleeping Beauty", and her shoes were about the size of the period at the end of this sentance. Perhaps we aren't too concerned with choking hazards in other countries?

Stay tuned for the most exciting part of the trip...coming soon!

Been awhile huh?

By the looks of this photo - I do not do enough international travel.  Ummm...you think??  Before my trip to Mexico for which I had to renew my passport, this was my most recent passport photo. It is an oldie, but a goodie.

My Acapulco trip will be blogged in installments because I have 796 pictures.  First installment = travel and first impressions.  Starting with the most ironic thing we saw while de-planing in Mexico City....wait, did our aircraft do a u-turn without me noticing??  Yikes - they are taking over the planet! We managed to find a Chili's in the Airport, Sarah's favorite - so it was perfect for her celebration dinner, since we were flying on her actual birthday! I knew it was going to be a great week because even while flying and making what felt like 42 stops for layovers,...I got this amazing shot of the bluest blue water out my window over Cabo San Lucas.

Our resort was absolutely Amazing with a capital A! We arrived after dark on Sunday night, so we were very anxious to get up and get going Monday morning.  Our room had a little kitchen area which was perfect for making our own meals most of the week and saving mucho dinero:)  Speaking of taking over the planet, a quick trip to Walmart was sadly first on our agenda - to get some groceries, and get it over with so we could head to the beach!  Check out my reaction to seeing "Fanta" in the little fridge thing by the register...priceless.  I love those commercials!  Want a fanta, don't you want a, want a fanta, don't you want a...

Watching the sun set into the ocean is probably one of the most beautiful things I will ever see in my whole life.  I am so grateful that I got to see 6 of them last week - each one more beautiful than the last.  I think half of my pictures are of sunsets, so get ready to see many more.  I had such a good time in Acapulco, and can't wait to share more with you all.  Stay tuned!
